This Golden Russet cider will take you by the hand, walk you through an apple orchard in autumn, and when an unexpected rain shower appears, this cider will give you a warm hug. A touch earthy, the Conqueror is crisp and dry, with a touch of straw and vibrant apple peel notes. It finishes with a light tannin and tingly acidity.
The Story
There are many ghost stories and tales of eerie encounters on Prince Edward Island, but none as well known as the Ghost Ship of the Northumberland Strait. Many Islanders and visitors alike recount sightings of the infamous phantom ship, which, like our Ghost Ship ciders, is here briefly, a passing taste and then disappears; almost never to be seen again.
All of our Ghost Ship ciders take their names from actual shipwrecks and vessels that have sunk off Prince Edward Island. Many a gale has wrecked a ship on the rocky shores and sandbanks that surround our red island.
The Conqueror, of which this cider is named after, was an American flagged vessel that was driven ashore and wrecked on the West Cape in 1856. Not much more is known about the ship as records from those days are hard to find.
